What are some examples of good or bad parenting found in works of literature or on TV?
I’m writing a paper about good parenting and I need examples of parents who fit or contrast with this statement: A good parent loves their child, provides a secure environment, and is a good example.
Despite conflict with the family right now I think a good family that loves their children & provide well are from”Jon & Kate Plus 8″ series. They are under the public eye alot but at least they allow people in to see how they are raising their family. I have followed this show since it’s conception and I admire how they are raising their children and they are realistic. You see their disagreements and squabbles and then solutions.
A TV series that shows bad parenting would be in the sitcom “Love & Marriage”..lol. I cringed when that show first came out. I forbid my sons to watch it.lol
Old fashion TV series that I liked when growing up was “Leave It To Beaver”..I think it portrayed the very decent, basic family values and their was always a moral lesson to be learned. The parents loved their children and provided well for them but also disciplined them when they did wrong but they did so in a firm yet loving way & exposed the moral to the story.
A literary novel with a good , loving family was “Little Women”. This is a classic and just timeless. The core family had great values and their was a lot of love to go around.
Oh, I now remember a book I read years ago then saw it on TV not too long ago. man, it falls under BAD parenting.
It’s called “Flowers In The Attic” written by V.C Andrews.
It’s basically about these 3 children locked in an attic by their mother who has a mother that is the wicked witch from the east. These poor children go through a lot & live about 3 years up in the attic till one night something happens. Anyways, bad bad parenting shows here.===========

(Plus, real quick,I’ll throw out names of TV shows that had decent good parents. Like “The Cosby’s”, “Family Ties” Growing pains” ,’Father Knows Best”(an old one)..list goes on..oh,lol,, kinda bad parenting kinda could be “Roseanne”, but in their defence, they did love their kids, they just had a different way of rasing them.lol, some would argue bad parenting, but who knows, you know what opinions are like.
